Safe exploration of the AI opportunity

AI is already in your organisation. A plan for it probably isn’t.

Reconnaisense helps leadership teams establish where they stand on AI, agree where they are going, and build a practical plan for getting there. Ten to twelve weeks, run with your people.

Where organisations get stuck

AI has entered most organisations sideways

Ownership is unclear, activity is fragmented, and leaders are uncertain what to do next. Underneath that, we see three gaps.

01

The adoption gap

Personal use of AI inside organisations is high. Organisational adoption is low. Employees are already working with these tools, often without guidance or oversight, while the organisation itself has agreed very little about how work should actually change.

02

The imagination gap

There is a considerable distance between self-taught prompting and the next phase of this technology. Most organisations have not yet begun to think seriously about what agentic systems would mean for how their work is structured, or what would have to be true before they could use them safely.

03

The progression paradox

Restructuring around fewer junior roles, on the assumption that fast-tracked middleweights and agentic systems will cover the difference, answers a short-term cost question and creates a long-term capability one. It also places real strain on the people who remain.

These challenges involve technology, but they also require decisions about people, work, ownership and investment. Reconnaisense brings those questions together so leaders can agree a practical way forward.

What Reconnaisense is

Not a technology project

Reconnaisense is a structured process, run over ten to twelve weeks, that takes a leadership team from an unclear position on AI to an agreed strategy, a draft policy and a plan of work.

It runs with your people rather than around them. A cross-functional team drawn from across the business examines how work actually happens, tests where AI could create genuine value, and turns what it finds into decisions the leadership team can act on.

That involvement is the method, not a nicety. The organisations that struggle with AI are usually the ones where the people who understand the work and the people making the decisions have never been in the same conversation about it. Reconnaisense puts them there, and gives everyone a common language for a set of issues that are technical, operational and cultural at once.

Three stages

Understand. Decide. Build.

1

Understand where you are

We assess leadership alignment, organisational confidence, current AI activity, and the barriers and opportunities specific to you.

2

Decide what matters

We convene a cross-functional team to build shared knowledge, examine how work actually happens, and identify the opportunities most relevant to your organisation.

3

Build your route forward

We help you set priorities, draft policy, assign ownership, and agree a practical plan for experimentation, implementation and wider engagement.

What you will have at the end

Seven things you will not have to guess at

  • A clearer and more aligned leadership position
  • Evidence of how your employees are actually using and experiencing AI
  • A prioritised set of organisational opportunities
  • Greater internal understanding and confidence
  • Clear ownership and governance
  • A draft AI strategy and a draft AI policy
  • A practical roadmap for pilots, capability-building and implementation

Who it’s for

Organisations above £10 million

Reconnaisense is built for organisations with revenues above £10 million that are working out what AI means for their people, their operations and their direction.

That usually means one of three situations. You are starting to explore AI seriously. Your employees are already using it informally and nobody owns that. Or you are running experiments without an organisation-wide approach to connect them.

It works best where there is a senior sponsor, a genuine willingness to involve employees, and a team drawn from across the business that can turn findings into decisions.

Where it isn’t the right fit

Reconnaisense is not a software implementation, a technical development project, or a one-off AI training session. If that is what you need, we will say so at the first conversation.

Who we are

Reconnaisense is new. The experience behind it isn’t.

The programme was built this year, and we would rather say so than imply a track record it does not yet have. There are no case studies on this site because there are not yet any to show.

What sits behind it is four decades of international consulting, two decades inside a large organisation going through technology transformation, and long experience of facilitating difficult conversations in rooms where people disagree. Martin and Peter lead every session themselves.
